This is the bio I include on the Hadley Carroll Mysteries:
Bruce Leonard earned a B.A. in English with a creative-writing emphasis from UCLA. He has been a travel writer, an editor, an owner of a bakery, and a guinea pig for the U.S. Government. He frequently visits Paducah, Kentucky, the quilt capital of the world, where he created Hadley Carroll. He is grateful for the thousands of enthusiastic readers brought into his life by Hadley, and he hopes the series continues for many more novels.
He is also the author of Hard Exit, an award-winning hardboiled mystery that takes place primarily in Malibu and is narrated by grieving private-eye Jack Drake.

He does so because he's loved by Sedonia, who believes in him and his abilities, even when he's wracked with self-doubt, stifled by indecision, and wide awake at 4 a.m. because the plot of his latest novel makes no sense to him. Sedonia reassures him that this plot works at least as well as those that preceded it and suggests he switch to decaf, take some melatonin, and start to meditate again.
